Universal Gastroenterology was founded by Dr Arun Gupta, a board-credentialled gastroenterologist (gut specialist) who trained in Melbourne, Sydney and the United Kingdom. Based at Holmesglen Private Hospital, Cabrini Hospital, Glen Iris Private and Specialists at Burwood, Dr Gupta is well positioned to serve those who live in Bentleigh or Bentleigh East. Bentleigh East is a dynamic and changing suburb containing the well-known Glen Eira Sports and Aquatic Centre (GESAC). There are innumerable cafes, restaurants and shops in Bentleigh East including the well regarded Good Times Milk Bar and Saul’s Sandwiches!
Dr Gupta has a strong interest in performing high-quality gastroscopy and colonoscopy and diagnosis and management of all aspects of gastroenterology. We manage all aspects of gastroenterology, hepatology (liver problems) and pancreatico-biliary disease. Dr Gupta has an interest in bowel cancer screening via colonoscopy, and the diagnosis and management of inflammatory bowel disease, irritable bowel syndrome, coeliac disease and dyspepsia in particular. Those with a family history of bowel cancer or a past history of colonic polyps are suitable patients. He takes a holistic approach and personalises his recommendations to each patient.
Holmesglen Private Hospital opened its doors in January 2017 and has proven to be extremely popular with patients south of the Yarra. Holmesglen offers a very broad range of services including a vast array of visiting specialists, a 24-hour emergency department and an intensive care unit. There is a first-class endoscopy unit which forms part of the operating theatre complex.
